Health Minister Dato' Seri Dr. Zulkifli Ahmad pointed out that the cancellation of the 'Different Working Hours System' (WBB) is not a sign of the government being fickle.
On the contrary, he said, the cabinet decided to cancel the trial of the said system to ensure more related issues can be discussed.
"Some questioned why WBB was canceled, but this is not the government being inconsistent. I can only say that I have not yet decided on the final implementation of WBB."
He indicated that the plan is still in the trial phase, but it faced a lot of criticism when announced. "Many people questioned why they weren't consulted."
Zulkifli Ahmad, also the deputy chairman of the Amanah Party, said this today (26th) during the concluding speech at the Amanah Party conference.
On January 24th, Zulkifli Ahmad stated that after considering various factors, the cabinet decided to cancel the WBB pilot plan to conduct more comprehensive and thorough research. The Ministry of Health has also established a related committee, chaired by former Health Director-General Tan Sri Abu Bakar.
Meanwhile, Zulkifli Ahmad also mentioned that the leak of the directive about piloting WBB in hospitals is the reason why it led to many controversies.
"When the information leaked, doctors nationwide were asking why they were not included in the discussion and demanded to be consulted."
Zulkifli indicated that he decided to bring this matter to the cabinet, and after explaining, the cabinet agreed that the Ministry of Health should cancel WBB and continue to seek opinions from various parties.
