On the 10th, emergency and firefighting departments in Shantou, Guangdong, China, confirmed that a fire broke out in the early morning at the Xigou Farmers' Market in Xiashan, Chaonan District. Relevant departments are organizing an investigation into the incident. According to Chinese media reports, informed sources revealed that three children died in the fire.
The Chinese media outlet "Dafeng News" reported that one informant stated that among the three victims, one was a fourth-grade student, one was a fifth-grade student, and the other was in the second year of middle school.
According to "The Beijing News," relatives of the victims confirmed that the three children were living in a loft above a storefront, with the first floor being a shop selling goods and the second floor serving as living quarters. The Xigou Farmers' Market has over 20 storefronts selling grains, and the fire spread from the front several storefronts to the back, where the children's family was located.
At the time of the incident, the mother of the children was out buying medicine. One of the boys called for help from his uncle, but by the time the uncle arrived five minutes later, the fire had already consumed the shop.

After the incident, the authorities reported that at around 1 a.m. on the 10th, a fire broke out in a storefront inside a market in Xigou Village, Xiashan Street, Chaonan District. Firefighting, police, emergency, and health departments rushed to the scene to conduct rescue efforts. The fire was extinguished at 2:40 a.m., resulting in three deaths.
