(Moscow, 2nd) — An improvised explosive device was detonated at around 8pm on the night of the 1st at a restaurant in downtown Moscow, resulting in at least three deaths, including the woman who carried the bomb.
According to Russian news agency (RIA), the National Anti-Terrorism Committee stated that an improvised explosive device exploded at a high-end Italian restaurant on Moscow's Kudrin Square, injuring at least 21 people.
The National Anti-Terrorism Committee pointed out that the three deceased included an unidentified woman who attempted to bring the explosive device into the restaurant, a security guard, and a customer.
This woman tried to secretly bring the improvised explosive device into the restaurant but was stopped by security, after which the explosion occurred.
Relevant departments are currently conducting investigations and search operations to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
The Russian authorities have not released the names of the casualties or indicated who they believe may be involved in the attack.
Russia's Kommersant quoted sources as saying that the bomb may have been intended for an attack on guests at the restaurant's outdoor terrace and could have been detonated remotely by someone else. The report also said the woman carrying the bomb may not have known there was an explosive in the package. However, these claims have not yet been confirmed by authorities.
