Deng Guangkai: Peimin United in Heart for Inheritance and Innovation, Working Together to Write a New Chapter in 65 Years of History

(Miri, 16th) – Deng Guangkai, Chairman of the Student Organizing Committee for Peimin Independent High School’s 65th Anniversary Cultural Night, stated that "Peimin United in Heart, Inheriting and Innovating" is not only the theme for this year’s cultural night, but also embodies this generation's expectations for the school's future.

Speaking at the 65th-anniversary celebration cultural night held last night in Peimin Independent High School’s main hall, he said that while a performance may last only a few hours, the creation of the stage represents countless people’s time, effort, and perseverance.

He said, "United in heart" means that while the strength of an individual is limited, a common direction allows a group of people to go further together. During preparations, students took on different roles: some handled planning, rehearsals, stage, and backstage work. Though their duties differed, all worked towards the same goal.

"A true team is not where everyone is the same, but where different people are willing to shoulder their responsibilities for a common objective."

He went on to say that "inheritance" means Peimin did not get to where it is today out of nowhere, while "innovation" is this generation’s answer to the future.

"We can respect tradition, and we can have our own expressions; we can stand within history, and also bravely embrace a new era."

Deng Guangkai admitted that organizing the event was not easy. The team had to work under tight schedules, make revisions, and go through coordination; they even had to readjust due to differing opinions. These experiences showed everyone that growth doesn’t occur when everything goes smoothly, but when learning to bear responsibility in the face of challenges.

He extended gratitude, on behalf of the student organizing committee, to Datuk Seri Lee Ching Sheng, the board of directors, the school, teachers, sponsors, parents, and the wider community for their support. He also thanked all organizing committee members, staff, and performers for their contributions.

He said, every stage appearance tonight comes from countless unseen rehearsals, and every minute of brilliance is fueled by the youth of many.

"65 years is the history Peimin Independent High School has left us; and from today onward, we will determine how this history continues."
