U.S. President Trump stated that regime change might be the 'best outcome' for Iran. He also confirmed that the U.S. military will deploy a second aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East, increasing pressure on Iran in the nuclear negotiations.
According to comprehensive reports from Bloomberg and other foreign media, on the 13th, after attending an event at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Trump was asked whether he hoped for regime change in Iran. Trump said: 'That seems to be the best outcome.'
When asked by reporters who he would like to see in power in Iran, he responded: 'I don't want to talk about that.'
Earlier in the day, when the White House press corps asked Trump why he was sending a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, Trump said: 'In case no agreement is reached, we will need it... Just in case, we have to be prepared.'
Trump pointed out that the U.S. military already has one carrier strike group deployed in the Middle East, and if necessary, the additional deployment will be in place. He also once again threatened Iran, saying that if negotiations are unsuccessful, the result will be 'very bad.'
U.S. media reported on the 12th that the USS Ford carrier and its escort vessels, which participated in the attack on Venezuela in January this year, have been ordered to leave the Caribbean for the Middle East. Pentagon sources said that the Ford carrier strike group will take at least a week to be fully deployed.
