KUCHING, July 2: A 34-year-old man died in a horrific crash yesterday morning after his three-wheeled motorcycle collided head-on with a cargo lorry and was run over on Jalan Nyabor-Sessang in Saratok.
According to a TVS news report, Saratok District Police Chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the victim, identified as Yatno Amir, is believed to have lost control of his tricycle before crashing into the front-right side of an oncoming lorry heading towards Kabong.
“The accident occurred when the cargo lorry was travelling straight. Suddenly, a three-wheeled motorcycle ridden by the victim veered into the opposite lane and struck the front-right portion of the lorry.
“As a result of the collision, the victim fell under the lorry and was run over by its rear wheels,” he was quoted as saying.
Yatno, who was self-employed, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Nyabor Health Clinic.
Meanwhile, the 43-year-old lorry driver, Chin Kiong Ing from Sibu, was unharmed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and remains under police investigation.
