Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Meas Sokha Dara issued a statement on the 6th, saying that an explosive device detonated on the Cambodia-Thailand border on the 5th, injuring four Cambodian patrol soldiers.

The statement indicated that at 12:35 p.m. local time on the 5th, a Cambodian patrol team encountered Thai troops patrolling on the outer side of a Thai-erected border wire fence while on duty in the border area of Oddar Meanchey Province.

The statement said that shortly after the encounter, an explosive device detonated behind the Cambodian patrol, causing shrapnel injuries to four Cambodian soldiers.

The statement noted that the injured soldiers have been sent to the hospital for treatment. The Cambodian frontline command and an expert group are currently investigating the explosion incident.

Earlier, Thailand's Second Army Area Command issued a statement on social media saying that at 12:45 p.m. that day, Thai patrol forces heard the sound of an explosion, but the blast location was in an area under Cambodian control. At the time of the incident, the Thai side had not taken any action in that area, and there were no Thai casualties or damaged equipment. After the incident, photos circulating online of three Cambodian wounded showed injuries concentrated to the lower limbs, with characteristics more consistent with injuries caused by stepping on a landmine.
