24-year-old up-and-coming South Korean actor Hong Min-ki was accused by female influencer Ms. A on the 19th of acts of dating violence during their relationship, quickly sparking heated discussion on Korean online forums. Hong Min-ki, through his agency, responded publicly, strongly denying the allegations and counter-accusing the woman of following him to his door to ask for a reconciliation. Today, Ms. A further revealed she was pregnant and forced to have an abortion.
On the 19th, Hong Min-ki's agency, Fable Company, issued a statement denying the accusations, stating that after their breakup the other party continued to contact Hong Min-ki and request to get back together, even coming to his home and to his family’s home multiple times. The company further accused Ms. A of coming to Hong Min-ki’s residence in the early morning, ringing the doorbell, knocking on the door for about 3 hours, sticking tape on the entryway surveillance camera, and even kicking the front door.
In response, Ms. A quickly refuted these claims, emphasizing she never went to Hong Min-ki's home to "stalk" him nor requested to get back together. "I just asked for a basic apology. I feel oppressing a person in this way amounts to a second injury." She also made a further revelation that she was pregnant, stating that after Hong Min-ki learned about the pregnancy he returned home after drinking, became agitated when he saw the pregnancy test, yelled at her, and pulled the blanket off her, shouting: "You're going to get an abortion, right? Go do it tomorrow." This caused her tremendous psychological stress.
Ms. A shared that because she was afraid to go with Hong Min-ki to the obstetrics and gynecology clinic, she went alone to the hospital the next day for an abortion, claiming that she has retained the relevant medical records and ultrasound images. She further accused that after the procedure, Hong Min-ki repeatedly brought up breaking up, even saying "I cannot accept you," ignoring her pleas for help, and ultimately cut off all contact.
Regarding being accused by Hong Min-ki’s side of "stalking at his front door," Ms. A explained that after becoming pregnant and undergoing the abortion, she fell into despair and didn’t dare to tell her parents or friends. The only person she could turn to was Hong Min-ki. "I said, 'Please help me, I am in so much pain, I feel like I’m dying.' But Hong Min-ki always remained silent and evaded responsibility. Is that stalking?"
Ms. A said she is currently a first-year university student, will start semester in a few weeks, and is still enduring discomfort after the abortion. She believes Hong Min-ki’s statement has already caused "secondary injury," and announced that she will no longer seek reconciliation, and instead will work with a lawyer to pursue legal action.
