(Kuala Lumpur, 7th) — Led by former Minister of Economy Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, nine Members of Parliament from the People’s Justice Party (PKR) are calling on the government to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry to thoroughly investigate the recent controversy surrounding the selection of judges.
They are also urging the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Human Rights, Elections, and Institutional Reform to investigate the matter, and are requesting that the committee summon Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, so that he can clarify the entire sequence of events.
Rafizi stated that they will work to gain bipartisan support from MPs in Parliament to carry out the above-mentioned investigation, and will also organize forums in public to explain the situation to citizens, even seeking support online.
“This issue has already raised public doubts. This is a great platform for the government to explain things clearly. Judicial issues have plagued our country for many years, and we do not wish for them to happen again.”
