According to the Department, Brunei is currently in its southwest monsoon season, which typically lasts until September 2026.
Based on forecasts, some parts of the country will experience thunderstorms accompanied by strong gusty winds. During periods of intense thunderstorm activity or in their vicinity, maximum instantaneous wind gusts could reach up to 50 kilometers per hour.
As for sea conditions, Brunei's waters are currently generally in mild to moderate condition, with wave heights between 0.6 and 1.5 meters.
In view of this, the Meteorological Department advises the public to take preventive measures as heavy rainfall and thunderstorms pose a high risk of flash floods, landslides, falling trees, and roofs being blown away by strong winds. These precautions are recommended to ensure both personal and property safety.
