Samalaju Roundabout Single-Vehicle Accident: Lorry Loses Control and Crashes off Road, 2 Injured

(Miri, 28th) — A traffic accident occurred last night at the Samalaju roundabout, where a 5-ton lorry reportedly lost control and crashed, veering off the road for about 15 meters, resulting in two men being injured.
This incident happened on December 27th (Saturday) at around 9:16 PM, at the Selungun roundabout in Samalaju, Sarawak. Upon receiving the report, the Samalaju Fire and Rescue Department arrived on the scene at 9:26 PM to carry out rescue operations. The situation was brought under control by 9:50 PM, and the operation concluded at 9:55 PM.
When the fire department arrived, they found the involved lorry to be empty, having lost control at the roundabout and crashed off the road. The accident involved two male victims: one had managed to climb up onto the shoulder on his own and was in a safe position, while the other was found semi-conscious, lying behind the lorry.

Fire and rescue personnel give preliminary treatment to the injured at the Samalaju roundabout accident site and fit a cervical collar before safely handing over the victim to medical personnel.
After assessing the scene, Incident Commander Jackson Gong Anak Jumput instructed the fire and rescue team to administer initial treatment to the injured and fit a cervical collar (C-Collar), then safely evacuate the victim.
The two injured were then handed over to Ministry of Health medical staff and sent to the hospital for further treatment. After confirming the scene was safe and under control, the rescue team returned to the fire station.
A total of five firefighters and one FRT fire engine were dispatched for this operation, with police and Ministry of Health personnel also participating.
The lorry lost control and ran off the road.
