(Seria, 1st) Chua Sai Un, Permanent Honorary Advisor of the Brunei Chinese Machinery Association, stated that the visit of a delegation of teachers and students from Tsinghua University to Brunei not only further connects the roots of Chinese culture, but also creates opportunities for deepening cooperation between Brunei and China in areas such as technology, education, youth exchanges, and logistics development.
He made these remarks during a speech at the welcoming event hosted by the Brunei Chinese Machinery Association for the Tsinghua University delegation.
On behalf of the Brunei Chinese Machinery Association, Chua Sai Un warmly welcomed the 13-member delegation of teachers and students from Tsinghua University, noting that it was particularly meaningful for the 96-year-old Brunei Chinese Machinery Association to welcome the 115-year-old Tsinghua University.
He said that Tsinghua University is a highly prestigious institution in China and holds an important position in technological innovation, educational development, and talent cultivation; meanwhile, the Brunei Chinese Machinery Association is one of the oldest Chinese associations in Brunei, long dedicated to serving the Chinese diaspora, fostering community ties, and promoting the development of the Chinese community.
Chua Sai Un expressed that this visit by the teachers and students of Tsinghua University to Brunei and their exchange with the Chinese Machinery Association not only connects "Tsinghua's wisdom" with "the roots of the overseas Chinese community", but also builds a platform for the exchange of China's science and education resources with the development needs of the Nanyang region.
He said that overseas Chinese always care about Chinese culture and the development of their ancestral homeland, and are also willing to play a bridging and connecting role, actively promoting friendly exchanges between China and Brunei.
He hopes that in the future, the Brunei Chinese Machinery Association can strengthen ties with Tsinghua University, especially in the areas of technological innovation, educational cooperation, youth exchanges, and logistics development, exploring more substantive cooperation opportunities and injecting new vitality into people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
