As preparations for China's September 3rd military parade enter the final countdown, Tiananmen Square will be closed from next Monday to Wednesday (September 1st to 3rd), and the Palace Museum will be temporarily closed starting Sunday (August 31st).
According to Beijing Daily, the Tiananmen Area Administrative Committee announced on August 24 that, to ensure the safe and smooth progress of special events, Tiananmen Square will be closed from September 1st to 3rd and is expected to reopen on September 4th.
The Palace Museum also posted a notice on its official website, stating that it will be closed from August 31st to September 4th to support events in the Tiananmen area, and will reopen on September 5th.
Over the past weekend, the Tiananmen area conducted the third and final comprehensive rehearsal for the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the War of Resistance.
According to CCTV News, this was a full-process, all-elements rehearsal—the last comprehensive run-through before the memorial event—including the ceremony (which includes the military parade), transitions, guest management, emergency response, and other aspects, with a focus on testing coordination between various processes and stages.
