Yinpingshan, the highest peak in Dongguan, Guangdong, China, rises to 898 meters above sea level. Recently, a young man was seen riskily moving and sitting at the edge of a cliff, apparently 'practicing kung fu'. Netizens criticized the man for ignoring the dangers, saying he has become 'obsessed to the point of danger'.
Since the 10th, multiple videos from the Xiegang section of Dongguan Yinpingshan Forest Park have gone viral on Chinese social media. The videos show a man in his twenties on the 9th climbing over a fence into a no-climbing zone and descending several meters down to a large boulder at the cliff's edge.
On the boulder, the man alternates between standing and sitting, waving his arms like he’s practicing martial arts, and at times sits cross-legged as if meditating or 'practicing'. Some videos show several other visitors crossing the fence and walking along the cliff, but none climb down like the 'kung fu' man.
A tourist with the surname Xiao said that when he reached the top around 5 or 6 PM, the man was still sitting at the cliff's edge. There were many visitors at the scene, but no park staff were present. He said the wind at the top was very strong and if the ’kung fu’ man slipped even once, he could fall off.
● Park Administration: Limited Patrol, Hard to Cover All Areas
The report by 'Dushi Xianchang' quoted staff from Yinpingshan Forest Park as responding that they had not yet received any feedback regarding this incident, and said that all the railings at the summit are posted with 'No Climbing' signs.
The staff also explained that the park is open for free and covers a large area, so even though there are patrols daily, it's hard to oversee all areas. If anyone is found crossing the railing, they will always be advised to return to safer ground. He added that they will follow up and communicate with the management to take specific measures as appropriate.
