Hope More Private Doctors Step Forward Fatimah: Providing Consultations for OSEIC Children

(Kuching, 6th) Sarawak currently needs private doctors willing to fulfill corporate social responsibility to provide early diagnostic services for children at the One-Stop Early Intervention Center (OSEIC).

Sarawak's Minister of Women, Children, and Community Wellbeing,  Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah , explained that currently only one doctor from Sarawak General Hospital is helping to identify the disabilities (OKU) faced by children.

She stated that this corporate social responsibility initiative is crucial because it can help shorten the waiting list for children needing early screening.

“If private doctors or any individuals interested in contributing through corporate social responsibility could provide screening services once a month, more doctors stepping forward would mean more children can be screened and receive timely early intervention.”

“Once a month is enough. We hope more doctors will proactively provide screening services and take appropriate intervention measures.”

Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah made this statement after attending an afternoon tea event held by the One-Stop Early Intervention Center yesterday.

She further explained that the need for this corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly urgent because the doctor currently serving at the One-Stop Early Intervention Center will soon leave Sarawak General Hospital to pursue a new phase of career development, which may lead to a shortage of service personnel.

“If he can no longer serve here, it may affect the smooth operation of this screening service. Therefore, we hope more private doctors can step up to help.”

She explained that this screening process needs to be careful and time-consuming, with only four children able to be examined each day.

“Unfortunately, the waiting list for screenings is very long, and with only one doctor on duty, this limits the number of children that can be screened at one time.”
