(Bandar Seri Begawan, 30th) The Ministry of Health recently conducted a joint raid, arresting a foreign woman suspected of providing unapproved illegal beauty services in an apartment in the country.

It is reported that the operation was carried out on July 19, with assistance from the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Customs Department, the Immigration and National Registration Department, and the Municipal Department. The operation was prompted by a public tip-off indicating that the agency had advertised illegal beauty services through the social media platform Instagram.

Enforcement officers at the scene found undeclared cosmetics and medicines not prescribed by doctors. Under Chapter 285 of the Medicines Act, it is illegal for anyone to import, use, or sell controlled medicines, health products, and cosmetics for customer treatment without a valid license and permit issued by the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health urges the public to remain vigilant and not be misled by beauty and body treatment advertisements on social media, especially those offered by unregistered or unqualified practitioners. The public is advised to consult registered doctors and understand potential risks before undergoing relevant treatments.

The authorities emphasize that monitoring and enforcement will continue to ensure public health and welfare. If the public discovers any suspicious cases, they can report to the Ministry of Health's Compliance and Licensing Unit by calling 2393301 ext 208, Talian Darussalam 123, or emailing pharmacy.enforcement@moh.gov.bn.
