Cross-District Cycling to Welcome the New Year: Promoting Health and Strengthening Cohesion

Published at Dec 31, 2025 03:18 pm
(City, 31st) In anticipation of the arrival of the year 2026, a joint cycling event gathering enthusiasts of various types of bicycles was recently held, becoming an active starting point to promote healthy lifestyles and deepen community cohesion.

Zaniar, a cycling enthusiast, expressed that participating in this ride made him feel both excited and happy. Not only did it bring together riders from diverse backgrounds, but it also provided a healthy and enjoyable platform for everyone to communicate and share the fun of cycling together. He believes that group riding is one of the best ways to kickstart the new year, as it inspires a positive spirit, advocates for an active lifestyle, and he hopes that more similar leisure cycling events can be organized in 2026, in addition to the weekly "My Happy City" initiative.

This event attracted riders of multiple categories, including folding bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes, and fat bikes, reflecting the increasing public interest in cycling. The event also became an important bridge for fostering closer relationships, as participants actively interacted before and after the ride in a harmonious atmosphere. Zaniar specifically mentioned that participants were of all genders and ages, with the remarkable performance of senior riders being particularly inspiring—including an approximately 81-year-old cyclist from the Dudong area and a 74-year-old former village chief from the Mora area, both of whom energetically joined the event. He emphasized that as long as one's physical condition allows, age is never a barrier.

Cyclists from different districts also responded enthusiastically, with events often organized by local bodies such as village councils, demonstrating a strong sense of community cooperation. Even in the face of hot weather or light rain, cyclists remained enthusiastic, only temporarily canceling activities during heavy rain for safety. On the health front, the Ministry of Health recognizes cycling as an excellent way to promote physical well-being, and the weekly BKC program draws broad participation from all walks of life. In addition, since November 23 last year, the Red Crescent has also included bicycles as part of its operational tools, further promoting cycling culture.

Looking ahead to the new year, Zaniar hopes that cycling activities will continue to be organized nationwide, strengthening the ties among different types of riders. He also urges the Ministry of Youth and Sports to be even more proactive in hosting various cycling events or activities to attract more people, especially the youth, to participate.
