KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Government will continue to prioritise efforts to strengthen the science, technology and innovation (STI) ecosystem to ensure Malaysia can withstand financial challenges and uncertainties in the global economic supply chain, including the energy crisis triggered by conflicts in West Asia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed the matter while chairing the first 2026 meeting of the National Science Council today.

He said the implementation of several mission-based initiatives was expected to optimise resources, stimulate sustainable economic growth and drive development centred on high-value innovation and technology.

“In line with our determination to make STI a key driver in resolving the nation’s economic challenges, every plan and implementation must be carried out more strategically and effectively,” he said in a Facebook post.

Anwar added that the approach was crucial in strengthening strategic collaboration between the MADANI Government, the private sector and research and development (R&D) institutions to ensure research outcomes could be translated into tangible benefits for the people and the country.
