Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dato' Seri Tiong King Sing, stated that the promotional video for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (TMM2026) will be remade to more comprehensively promote each state. It is expected to be released within a week.

He was not satisfied with the final video shown to him today (9th) and urged the tourism department and related agencies to promote tourism activities by regions.

He said at the consultation meeting of Central Region tourism operators for 2025 today: "I hope the video can be divided by regions so that people can understand what attractions each state has, instead of the images jumping around... In the end, even foreign tourists are dazzled and don't know which attractions belong to which state."

"We systematically promote each state. I request all state governments to cooperate with us by providing information, tourism destinations, new products, or (tourism) packages, or what we consider the best food, which we can include in the video for promotion."

Furthermore, Tiong King Sing said the montage video played at the launching ceremony of TMM2026's logo, mascot, theme song, and aircraft livery design on Monday was not a promotional video.

He pointed out that it was merely a short video released in conjunction with the launching ceremony, lasting 41 seconds.

He reminded parties, especially netizens, not to politicize the matter or turn it into a religious or racial issue, stating that the tourism ministry is willing to humbly accept opinions or constructive criticism from all parties.

The video released through Tourism Malaysia's Facebook page introduced several tourist attractions, including Kuala Lumpur's Petaling Street and Central Market, Sarawak's Mulu Caves, Langkawi's Skybridge in Kedah, Batu Caves in Selangor, and Malacca.

Yesterday, Tiong King Sing said the remade tourism promotional video would incorporate architectural elements of mosques.
