Anwar and Indonesian President Hold Closed-Door Talks, Focusing on Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar and Indonesian President Prabowo held closed-door talks in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, focusing on measures to strengthen bilateral relations.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting took place during a closed-door luncheon hosted by Anwar at Rumah Tangsi, as part of Prabowo's one-day working visit to our country.

The statement noted that this is Prabowo's first working visit to Malaysia since being sworn in last October.

"This visit reflects the special relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia, which is built on solid cooperation in various fields, including economy, socio-culture, defense, and security."

After the luncheon, Anwar and Prabowo rode together to the Hibiscus Building, Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Prabowo's delegation included Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.

Last year, Indonesia was Malaysia's seventh largest trade partner globally, and the third largest trade partner among ASEAN member countries, with a total trade amounting to 111.21 billion ringgit.

During the period from January to October last year, bilateral trade volume reached 95.5 billion ringgit, an increase from 94.37 billion ringgit in the same period the previous year.
