(Kuching, 27th) Last Wednesday, police, in two separate raids, detained two local men and uncovered drugs with a total street value exceeding RM25,000, exposing local drug trafficking activities.
Kuching District Police Chief Alexson Naga Chabu stated that the first raid took place at around 2:20 PM on Sultan Tengah Road in Santubong, resulting in the arrest of a 30-year-old man. Police seized 5.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, with a market value of about RM605, from him.
He said: “Initial urine tests showed the suspect was positive for methamphetamine, and investigations revealed he has six prior criminal records.”

“The suspect has been remanded for four days, starting immediately, until March 30 to assist in investigations under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.”
Alexson added that, in a simultaneous second raid at Kampung Sin Samariang, a 41-year-old man was arrested for suspected involvement in drug trafficking.
He said the police seized 6.4kg of cannabis in the search, with a market value of about RM25,200.
“Initial screening showed the suspect tested positive for multiple drugs, including amphetamines, methamphetamine, and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).”
“The suspect has been remanded for seven days, starting immediately, until April 2 to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted under this section, the penalty is death or life imprisonment and whipping.”

He pointed out that the success of these two raids was due to continuous intelligence work by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) and information provided by the public.
He emphasized that the police will not compromise with anyone involved in drug trafficking, possession, or sheltering drugs, as these acts are considered serious threats to society and the nation.
Therefore, police urge the public to provide information to JSJN if they have any knowledge about drug activities, to continue combating drug-related issues.
