(Kuching, 31st) In conjunction with the 2025 National Heroes’ Day, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) will collaborate with local media organizations to plan a special program to honor the contributions of national heroes and remember their sacrifices and struggles for the nation’s peace and sovereignty.
Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (responsible for Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, stated that this initiative aims to commemorate the selfless contributions of our country’s fallen military and police heroes, and to pass down their courageous deeds.
"One suggestion is to hold a program jointly participated by media practitioners and UKAS, with invitations extended to the intelligence bureau, national broadcaster RTM, and journalists in Kuching," he said.
Abdullah made these remarks during a media interview after attending the 2025 Sarawak State-level National Heroes’ Day event at the Heroes Monument in Kuching Cultural Park today.
"We are planning a brief yet solemn ceremony at the Heroes Monument, as a tribute and commemoration from the Sarawak media to the sacrifices of our Armed Forces (ATM), Royal Police Force (PDRM), and veterans," he added.
He revealed that the planned event will involve cooperation with representatives from the armed forces and the Royal Police, and will be held at the same location, with the exact date to be announced later.
Abdullah pointed out that the initiative hopes to nurture respect for the fighting spirit of national security forces and instill patriotism within society, especially among the younger generation.
