(Bandar Seri Begawan, 9th) The Brunei Darussalam Tourism Development Department (TD) hereby informs the public that, in accordance with the Tourism Act (Chapter 239), the department is the regulatory authority for travel agencies in Brunei.
Any company or individual that conducts any travel agency-related activities listed under the Tourism Act (Chapter 239) without a valid license is in violation of the law, breaching Section 11(1) of the Tourism Act (Chapter 239).
Upon conviction, offenders may be fined up to $10,000, imprisoned for up to two years, or both. For repeat offenders, a maximum fine of $100 per day may be imposed under the same law.

This serves as notice that any company intending to carry out travel agency-related activities must apply for a license from TD. Currently, there are 60 travel agencies registered with the department.
Additionally, companies that already hold a license and intend to provide Hajj or Umrah services must obtain approval from the Hajj Affairs Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. In light of this, the department advises the public to only book air tickets, travel packages, etc., through licensed travel agencies, whether for domestic or international travel, including Hajj and Umrah packages.
The department also provides the latest list of authorized travel agencies, which can be found on the website “www.tourism.gov.bn”.
The list of travel agencies is continuously updated; the public is encouraged to regularly visit the website.
If you have any questions regarding travel agencies, you may call +673 2382822 extension 2325 during office hours or email “enforcement@tourism.gov.bn” for inquiries.
