The 17th Nan Da Microfiction Award Now Open for Southeast Asian Submissions

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 10th) The 17th Nan Da Microfiction Award is now open for submissions from the Southeast Asian region, inviting Chinese-language writers from Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak, and beyond to participate for the first time. This long-established literary award welcomes a new edition this year, and has added a "Short Film Creation Award" category, offering creators a broader platform to showcase their work.
Sun De'an, President of the Brunei Chinese Writers Association, has especially called on writers from Brunei and the Southeast Asian region to actively take part in the competition. Wu Yanling, President of the Malaysian Chinese Writers Association, also stated that this award has been held for 17 editions and is one of the most longstanding microfiction awards in the Chinese literary world. In recent years, it has progressively attracted widespread attention and participation from writers across Southeast Asia.
The award categories are announced as follows:
Microfiction Category (Word count ≤ 1500 characters): Champion: RM2000; First Runner-up: RM1500; Second Runner-up: RM1000; Merit Award: RM300 (20 recipients)
In addition, this edition has added a Short Film Creation Award, where creators can adapt their microfiction into a 6-8 minute short film, demonstrating the integration of literary creativity with visuals.
Short Film Creation Category: Merit Award: RM500 (5 recipients)
