(Tehran, 22nd)—The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Vahidi, commented on Israel's recent threatening rhetoric, pointing out that it is a 'sign of Israel's turmoil and weakness.'
According to Xinhua News Agency quoting the Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran on Sunday (December 21), Vahidi, in an interview with Lebanon's 'Square' TV, responded to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's impending visit to the United States and Israel's recently escalating rhetoric against Iran. He said, 'Israel is attempting to target Iran through media and psychological warfare, creating an image contrary to reality to cover up its own vulnerability.' Such propaganda by Israel, he said, will not have any substantial effect.
Vahidi stated that Israel's 'aggression' against Iran in June this year failed to achieve any objectives. He also noted that Iran is closely monitoring regional and international developments and is assessing the situation clearly.
Israeli media expect Netanyahu to visit the United States at the end of this month and meet U.S. President Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. NBC reported on the 20th that, due to concerns over Iran 'expanding ballistic missile production,' Netanyahu is prepared to tell Trump that Israel may again strike Iranian facilities.
On the 21st, IDF Chief of Staff Zamir warned at a military event that, if necessary, the Israeli military would strike enemies 'wherever they are, whether the front is near or far.' According to The Times of Israel, Zamir's remarks implied that Israel might strike Iran again.
On June 13, Israel launched large-scale airstrikes on multiple locations in Iran. In response, Iran launched several waves of missile and drone attacks on different targets within Israel. On the evening of June 21, Trump announced that U.S. forces had struck three Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. On June 24, Israel and Iran announced their acceptance of the U.S.-proposed ceasefire plan.
