Chiew Choon Man Visits Three Locations to Celebrate Gawai Dayak Festival, Sharing Joy and Welcoming the Harvest Festival with the Public

(Miri, 30th) Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Member of Parliament for Miri, Chiew Choon Man, issued a statement saying that he recently visited Kampung Al Junaid, Kuala Baram Kampung Batu 6, and Senadin to participate in pre-Gawai Dayak Festival gatherings and celebrations in various places, joining the local community in welcoming the festive season.

The pre-Gawai Dayak Festival gatherings brought together local residents, community leaders, supporters, and family members in an atmosphere full of unity and festivity. During the events, he also sponsored food for the activities and interacted with the public, celebrating the upcoming festival together.

He pointed out that being able to take part in celebrations in these three places was especially meaningful, as it not only offered him the chance to participate in traditional dances with the residents but also to taste Dayak cuisine, allowing him to deeply feel the unique charm of Sarawak's multiculturalism. These traditional cultures not only showcase the state's rich cultural heritage, but also help promote understanding and respect among different ethnic groups.

At the same time, these events also provided a direct platform for communicating with grassroots citizens, listening to their views and demands regarding policies, livelihoods, and community development, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and reflected.

Chiew Choon Man remarked that Gawai Dayak is an important and unique cultural festival for the Dayak community, as well as an important celebration that promotes friendship, respect, and unity among all ethnic groups. During the festive period, family members gather together, deepening emotional bonds and sharing warm moments.

He added that with the arrival of Gawai Dayak, he hopes all sectors will continue to work together to preserve and promote Sarawak's unique cultural heritage, and further foster social harmony and unity.
