A barbecue restaurant in Taiyuan, Shanxi put forward the promotional slogan “100-year-old brings parents to dine, meal is free,” drawing attention. On April 27, the local market regulation department responded to the reporter from Da Wan News, saying they had taken note of the matter and are currently verifying and handling it.

Recently, a store in Taiyuan called Jinxi Family Ranch Barbecue displayed the slogan “100-year-old brings parents to dine, meal is free.” After this content spread widely online, it sparked heated discussion. Some think the slogan is novel, while others say it is unrealistic and just a gimmick.

In response, the store told Da Wan News reporters that it was “playing on a meme,” aiming to boost shop exposure, and so far no 100-year-old has come to dine with their parents. However, lawyers noted that the slogan carries multiple legal risks, may constitute false advertising, and is subjectively misleading to consumers.

Previously, on a certain short video platform, an account suspected to be operated by a staff member of the restaurant had repeatedly posted content related to the slogan. On April 27, Da Wan News reporters noticed that the related videos had been taken down.

Afterwards, reporters contacted the Wucheng Market Regulation Office in Xiao Dian District, the jurisdiction of the restaurant. The staff responded that they were already aware of the matter.
