According to reports from Red Star News, Guangxi 'Legal Daily', and other outlets, Qinzhou, Guangxi, was hit by an extreme torrential downpour on Monday, leading to severe urban waterlogging in the city and surrounding areas. The heavy rainfall caused multiple roads to become waterlogged and impassable, affecting road traffic. In some low-lying areas, vehicles were flooded and both shops and residential homes had water pour in, clearly impacting residents' daily life and business operations.
From midnight to 8 a.m. on Monday, the urban area of Qinzhou and surrounding townships recorded heavy to torrential rain, with some places experiencing exceptionally heavy rainfall. The highest recorded rainfall was in Jiulong Town, Qin'nan District, at 362.2 millimeters; the highest hourly rainfall was 143.3 millimeters (Jiulong Town, Qin'nan District, at 4 a.m. on the 27th).
At 10:10 a.m. on Monday, Qinzhou Meteorological Observatory in Guangxi continued to issue red alerts for rainstorms.
Among these, the area surrounding Agile Longyue Bay in Qinbei District was particularly low-lying, and due to the sustained heavy rainfall, water in the area could not be drained quickly, resulting in severe flooding and hazards on the roads. On the scene, nearly a hundred private cars were submerged in accumulated water, with many vehicles almost entirely underwater except for the rooftop, the deepest water exceeding one meter, causing severe vehicle damage.
To guard against natural disasters such as heavy rain and floods and to ensure the safety of teachers and students, some schools in Qinzhou suspended classes for half a day on Monday afternoon.
The Guangdong Meteorological Observatory predicts that from the 28th to 29th, most regions of Guangdong will experience heavy rain, accompanied by strong convective weather and a slight drop in temperature.
