Bruneian Athletes Depart for SUKMA Games Fifth Group Heads to Selangor for Competition

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) The fifth group of the Brunei delegation, consisting of 13 members, departed yesterday for Selangor, Malaysia, to participate in the 22nd Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXII Selangor 2026). The delegation is made up of athletes and coaches from swimming, golf, and fencing.
The Deputy Director of Youth and Sports, Noorfaizah binti Haji Suboh, visited Brunei International Airport to offer encouragement and support to the departing delegation.
Others present at the send-off ceremony included officials and staff from the Youth and Sports Department, representatives from the Brunei Swimming Association, Brunei Golf Association, Brunei Fencing Federation, as well as the athletes’ families.
Brunei’s swimmers will begin their competitions on August 19 at the Selangor Aquatic Sports Centre, participating in the 200m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle events. The golf players will compete in the individual tournament starting August 18 at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club.
Brunei’s fencers will compete on August 19 at the UiTM (Universiti Teknologi MARA) Sports Centre Hall in Shah Alam, in men’s individual sabre, men’s team sabre, men’s individual épée, women’s individual épée, and women’s individual sabre events.
The next group of the Brunei delegation will depart on August 18 (Tuesday).
