(Bandar Seri Begawan, 30th) Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) has officially launched RB SkyConnect, a brand-new inflight network connectivity service, powered by SES, one of the world's leading satellite communications providers.
The launch of RB SkyConnect marks an important milestone in RB's digital transformation journey, as it will provide passengers with reliable, high-speed inflight internet access throughout their journey.
This new service, officially launching on November 18, 2025, will allow passengers to enjoy smooth internet access, carry out office tasks, and watch videos, whether on the ground or in the air.
The unveiling ceremony for RB SkyConnect was held at the Empire Hotel in Brunei.
The Guest of Honour at the event was Datuk Juanda, Brunei Minister of Development and Chairman of RB’s Board of Directors.
Also in attendance were Datuk Shan Haji, Minister of Transport and Communications, Dato Mohd Riza, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (Public Service Administration), as well as members of RB’s board, management, and partners.
The RB SkyConnect system utilizes SES’s advanced multi-orbit network, connecting to both geostationary and Low Earth orbit satellites, ensuring stable and uninterrupted connectivity for RB’s flight network.
The system uses SES’s electronically steered array antennas, providing unrivaled reliability and performance.
With SES’s support, the Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) engineering team—including the avionics and structural departments—successfully completed the first installation of the RB SkyConnect system on an Airbus A320neo in Brunei.
It is expected that installation of the RB SkyConnect system on all A320neo aircraft will be completed by May 2026.
Captain Sabirin, CEO of Royal Brunei Airlines, stated: “We are honored to launch the RB SkyConnect system, which represents a new generation of inflight connectivity experiences. This technology not only sets a new standard for inflight internet, but also demonstrates our commitment to innovation and to providing an excellent experience for travelers in the Asia-Pacific region.”
He said that with the RB SkyConnect system, travelers on Asia-Pacific routes can stay connected whether communicating with family, completing work tasks, or watching their favorite entertainment.
“We believe inflight connectivity has become a necessity, and we are delighted to partner with SES to create this experience for our passengers.”
Meanwhile, Enrique Villaseñor, Vice President of Aviation Sales at SES, added: “RB is the first airline in Asia to deploy multi-orbit inflight connectivity, providing passengers with a fast and reliable internet experience, making them feel at home wherever they are. We are delighted that RB has chosen SES to help them set a new benchmark for connected travel experiences.”
