PUTRAJAYA, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) will host the KPKT Media Excellence Awards (AKeMedia) 2025 dinner on Nov 17 at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said the event serves as a gesture of appreciation and recognition for media practitioners who play a vital role in ensuring the dissemination of accurate, credible and effective information to the public.

“KPKT has always valued the role of the media in the nation’s development and regards them as the ministry’s strategic partners,” he said in a statement today.

He said the prestigious awards, introduced in 2023, aim to acknowledge the dedication and contributions of media professionals.

This year’s edition features eight main categories, namely the Minister’s Special Award, Best Television Broadcast Award, Best Video Portal or Online Award, Best Radio Broadcast Award, Best Article Award, Best Photojournalism Award, Best Social Media Content Award and Best Influencer or KOL Award.

Nga said the entries focus on KPKT’s roles and responsibilities, which include housing, local authorities (PBT), fire and rescue services, urban sustainability and wellbeing, smart cities, solid waste management, recycling initiatives, community credit, as well as the functions of the 14 departments and agencies under the ministry.

He said AKeMedia 2025 had received 243 submissions as of September and is now in the final stage of judging.

“Through this event, KPKT hopes to strengthen ties and strategic collaboration with its media partners while honouring their efforts in conveying the ministry’s initiatives and achievements to the public, in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspiration,” he added.
