(Kuching, 15th) The Sarawak government and the Sarawak Oil Company (PETROS), as the state's only gas consolidator, will continue to work closely with the Malaysian national oil company.
According to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, this cooperation is to ensure that the Sarawak Oil Company performs its duties as the sole gas consolidator, without interrupting the supply of natural gas to consumers (including investors).
Abang Johari expressed gratitude to our country's Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar for his statement at a press conference in Abu Dhabi, which clearly acknowledged and recognized the Sarawak Oil Company as the sole gas consolidator in Sarawak.
“The Sarawak government also appreciates the role played by the federal government and the national oil company in resolving this issue. This will strengthen cooperation between the federal government and the Sarawak government, the Malaysian national oil company, and the Sarawak oil company.”
Sarawak Premier Abang Johari pointed out in a statement released by his office today that this strategic cooperation will promote Malaysia, especially Sarawak, in its efforts to become an energy hub.
Abang Johari added that this cooperation will also enhance the country's global competitiveness in attracting investment, technological research, and emerging industries, especially petrochemical derivatives.
He said this will align with the creation of high-paying jobs and national economic growth.
