(Kuching, 15th) UNIMAS Prima, Sarawak University Health Center, is a pioneering healthcare platform utilizing the latest technology, specifically designed to address the challenges of an aging population.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari emphasized that technologies like artificial intelligence and smart medical devices will play a crucial role in ensuring elderly people receive more efficient and personalized care.

“Sarawak is facing an aging population issue, and it is expected that soon 16% of the population will be aged over 60. Medical care for this group requires more complex approaches.”

He explained that with technologies like artificial intelligence, it is possible to analyze personal health data to determine the causes of diseases and provide accurate solutions.

He made these remarks today during the opening ceremony of the Sarawak University Health Center.

At the same time, he shared his vision for the future, where smart medical devices not only gather health data but also integrate technology into the human body to help human evolution.

He mentioned that technologies such as digital X-rays and other medical diagnostic equipment will pave the way for more proactive healthcare, thereby reducing the burden of care on traditional hospitals.

“This center is more than just a digital clinic; it’s more like a ‘studio’ ensuring the best, continuous care for the elderly.”

Additionally, he noted that in the future, humans might be 50% human and 50% machine. This is no longer fiction but a possibility that is being explored.

He stated that Sarawak University is expected to play a significant role in the research and development of this health technology, making Sarawak a hub for digital health innovation in Malaysia.

He explained that with the opening of this center, Sarawak isn’t just taking a step forward in providing technology-based healthcare, but also demonstrating its commitment to improving the quality of life for its people, especially the elderly.
