Mohammad Kadein Commits to Elevate University to Higher Levels

(Kuching, Dec 27) The new Vice-Chancellor of i-CATS University College, Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Ts Mohamad Kadim Suaidi is committed to elevating the university to higher levels, including the goal of becoming a full university by 2026.

He stated that i-CATS will continue to play an important role in cultivating graduates with high skills relevant to future technological needs, in line with its function as a technological university.

In this regard, he proposed further reforms at i-CATS with a clear strategic vision and concrete measures and taking steps to strengthen the institution’s role as a leader in higher education in Sarawak.

“We plan to launch new academic programs while introducing advanced technologies such as hydrogen, bioheat, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence. This step will help Sarawak achieve the development vision outlined in the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).”

After officially assuming office as the second Vice-Chancellor of i-CATS University College yesterday,  Datuk Dr Ts Mohamad Kadim Suaidi also spoke at a press conference about the major challenges faced by all higher education institutions in Sarawak before the implementation of free higher education in 2026.

He stated that, as a higher education institution fully owned by the Sarawak government, i-CATS will be prepared in terms of infrastructure, faculty, and academic programs to support this initiative.

At the same time, he has set a goal to increase the number of students to 3,000 within two years.

“Currently, the number of students is less than 2,000. With the concerted efforts of all parties, we are confident in achieving this goal.”
