(Kuching, 27th) A 60-year-old man accidentally fell into a river and after a 3-day search and rescue operation, it was confirmed that he drowned.
The Lundu Fire Department revealed in a statement today that the authorities, along with a rescue team formed by local villagers, found the man's body at 8:27 AM about 300 meters downstream from the point where he fell.
The deceased was sent to Haji Omar Jetty, then handed over to the police for further action, and his body was subsequently sent to Lundu Hospital for an autopsy.
The man initially fell into the river near Kampung Kulao Jetty on the morning of the 25th of this month while arranging boats, after which he went missing.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was calling for help as he tried to swim back to the riverbank. The witness prepared his boat and went out to help, but when he arrived, the man was nowhere to be found, possibly swept away by the strong currents.
