(Sekinchan, 27th) — Yesterday, the Sekinchan Magistrate's Court heard five cases involving gambling and other criminal offenses, among which a woman was sentenced to two weeks in jail for submitting a false police report to the authorities.
Mohd Haide A Rahman stated that, among all the cases tried, two defendants were fined RM2,500 each for violating the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
He said, “The above fines have all been paid.”
He added that two other cases were ruled by the court as ‘discharged not amounting to an acquittal’ (DNAA).
He also pointed out that another local woman was sentenced to two weeks’ imprisonment for violating Section 182 of the Penal Code, that is, for submitting a false police report.
Mohd Haide stressed: “We will continue to intensify efforts to combat gambling activities and will not compromise on any illegal conduct.”
He also reminded the public to always abide by the law and provide information to the police to ensure that public safety and social order are maintained.
