American Fitness Influencer Drowns in Thailand, Suspected Abnormal Behavior Led to Jumping into Lake

 A 32-year-old American fitness influencer drowned on Tuesday evening after jumping into a lake in a residential area of Samut Prakan, Thailand. Police investigations revealed that the luxury house he had rented was severely damaged, with paint splashed in multiple places. The case is still under further investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Connor Michael Murphy from Texas, USA, a bodybuilder and well-known YouTuber with over 2.3 million subscribers. He was famous for his fitness videos and bold challenges, and is a notable figure in the online 'Looksmaxxing' community.

Police stated that the incident occurred outside a residential area in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan. After arriving in a rental car, Murphy behaved abnormally—first attempting to tip the driver 1,000 baht, but the driver sensed something was wrong and refused to accept it.

He then asked a passing resident's car for a ride into the residential area. Security guards noted something was off and immediately warned the car owner not to give him a ride.

According to eyewitnesses, Murphy then became emotionally agitated, shouting loudly, rolling on the ground, and raising his arms in a prayer gesture. When police arrived at the scene, he suddenly ran toward the residential area's artificial lake and jumped into the water.

Videos taken by residential staff showed Murphy continuously swimming in the lake until he became exhausted and sank to the bottom. The lake is over 10 meters deep, and no one on scene dared to enter the water to rescue him. About 30 minutes later, rescue personnel retrieved his body about 20 meters from shore.

Police's initial examination found no signs the body had been assaulted, with only abrasions from rolling on the ground. The body has been sent to the hospital for autopsy and toxicology tests to determine if drugs were involved.

Police later entered Murphy's rented lakeside luxury home, valued at about 22 million baht, for investigation. They found extensive black and yellow paint splashed over the walls, appliances, and furniture, with the interior severely damaged.

The homeowner stated that the house was rented at 35,000 baht per month, and Murphy and his 22-year-old girlfriend had lived there for about three months. She said she was shocked by the severe damage to the property.

The deceased's girlfriend said the two had been together for about three years but had lived apart due to relationship issues, only moving back in together about three months ago. She claimed Murphy had behaved normally before the incident, had never shown similar abnormal behavior, and had no known mental health issues.

She also said she had never seen Murphy use drugs.

However, police discovered two unused syringes and several unidentified white pills in the deceased's car, and are currently awaiting toxicology test results.

Police stated they will continue to investigate the case and will notify the US Embassy in Thailand to assist with follow-up matters.
