KUCHING,31 July: The top management of UiTM Sarawak Branch paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall, and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, at his official office in LCDA Tower here on Wednesday.
The UiTM Sarawak Branch (UiTMCS) delegation was led by the Rector of UiTM Sarawak Branch, Prof. Dr Firdaus Abdullah, along with Deputy Rector of Academic and International Affairs, Associate Prof. ChM. Ts. Dr Mohamad Isa Mohamadin, Assistant Rector of Samarahan 2 Campus, Associate Prof. Dr Abdul Razak Abdul Kadir, and Corporate Communication Unit Coordinator, Yaziz Kasim.
During the visit, Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also the Pantai Damai Assemblyman, was given a brief presentation on the academic programmes offered at UiTM Sarawak Branch.
“It was also shared that UiTMCS has introduced the HEP Kitchen & Food Bank initiative to support students, particularly those from B40 families, who are in need of food assistance throughout their studies,” it said in a press statement by UiTMCS.
This initiative has helped many students obtain essential food supplies and reduce the burden and cost of living they currently face.
In addition, the delegation also shared information regarding seven conferences to be co-organised by UiTMCS until the end of this year.
Among them is the 16th Borneo Islamic International Conference (KAIB), which will be held at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) in Pontianak, Kalimantan, Indonesia, from September 9 to 11.
During the meeting, Firdaus also extended an invitation to Dr Abdul Rahman to deliver the keynote address on the first day of the 16th KAIB.
Other matters discussed included the organisation of programmes aimed at empowering the socio-economic status of the community through entrepreneurship, particularly in the Pantai Damai constituency.
In line with this, UiTMCS also submitted several proposal papers to Dr Abdul Rahman for his attention and consideration.
