KUCHING, July 30: A man who lost his temper after being reprimanded for urinating into a neighbour’s roadside drain was fined RM1,200 by the Magistrates’ Court today for assaulting the person who confronted him.

The incident occurred on the night of July 22 in Taman Sri Moyan, during a social gathering at a nearby house.
According to court proceedings, the 24-year-old man had relieved himself in a roadside drain when a 45-year-old neighbour admonished him for the act.

Instead of walking away, he retaliated by punching the neighbour in the face, resulting in visible injuries and a broken tooth.

The victim later lodged a police report, and the man was arrested shortly after. Medical examinations confirmed injuries to the victim’s mouth, including bruising and a fractured lower incisor.

In court today, the accused pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan imposed a fine of RM1,200, with a default sentence of three months’ imprisonment should he fail to pay.

The accused was unrepresented during the proceedings.
