(USA, 10th) – In response to U.S. President Trump's announcement that he will hold a summit with Russian President Putin in Alaska on the 15th of this month, Putin’s special envoy for international economic and investment cooperation, Dmitriev, stated on the 9th that certain countries will make “great efforts” to undermine this meeting.
Dmitriev accused some countries of seeking to prolong the war. In a post on his personal account on the social media platform Telegram, he wrote: “Some countries that intentionally want the conflict to continue will, without a doubt, make great efforts to undermine the planned meeting between President Putin and President Trump.”
Dmitriev also stated that the efforts he referred to involve “provocations and (spreading) false information.” However, he did not specify which countries or what kinds of “provocations” he was referring to.
The Kremlin had earlier confirmed that there will be this Russia-U.S. leaders' summit.
