(Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) Prof. Cheng Xuan, chairwoman of the Overseas Chinese Federation of Xiamen University and professor at the College of Materials, led a five-member delegation on a visit to the Brunei Fujian Association yesterday morning.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Fang Yanhe, president of the Brunei Fujian Association, vice presidents Li Yongzhen and Wu Jingtian, as well as other board members.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in discussions and introduced the historical background of the Brunei Fujian Association.
Professor Cheng Xuan expressed her admiration for the Brunei Fujian Association’s positive influence in the local community over the years and introduced the functions of Xiamen University’s Overseas Chinese Federation, its academic research directions, and the latest developments in international exchange and cooperation.
In addition, both parties conducted in-depth discussions on the current internationally concerned topic of renewable energy, including the sustainable utilization of oil resources, as well as the potential and challenges of solar and nuclear energy in the future energy mix.
Both sides agreed that as global green transformation advances, strengthening technological innovation and cross-border cooperation will bring new opportunities for achieving clean energy goals and promoting regional sustainable development.
The two parties exchanged commemorative gifts during the ceremony, symbolizing friendship and cooperation. Afterwards, the Brunei Fujian Association hosted a luncheon for the delegation at Fuzhou Restaurant, offering warm hospitality to the guests from afar. The event was filled with a strong sense of community and genuine friendship.
