(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) To celebrate World Investor Week (WIW) 2025, the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB), in collaboration with the Brunei Capital Market Association (BCMA), is promoting a series of initiatives to strengthen investor education, investor protection, and financial literacy in Brunei.
This annual global event, spearheaded by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), aims to bring together financial regulators and stakeholders from around the world.
This year’s World Investor Week will be held from October 6th to 12th, 2025, with a focus on three main themes: technology and digital finance, artificial intelligence, and fraud and scam prevention. In addition, there will be an emphasis on crypto assets and essential investment knowledge.
As part of the Brunei Central Bank and Brunei Capital Market Association (BCMA) initiatives to celebrate World Investor Week (WIW), we have undertaken and scheduled the following activities to provide the public with practical knowledge and skills:
• Capital Market Career Pathways — On September 12th, 2025, a panel discussion was held at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) career fair to introduce students to the experiences of regulators and practitioners in the capital market sector.
• Learning Visits — Licensed intermediary institutions will visit local higher education institutions for study tours to showcase digital investment tools and offer students firsthand information about industry operations.
• Investment Challenge — We will hold a practical competition for selected students aimed at enhancing investment decision-making skills, emphasizing risk awareness, and encouraging the creation of long-term investment portfolios. More details will be announced soon.
• Wise Investing Social Media Campaign — A series of educational posts about investor protection and wise financial habits will be published on the Brunei Central Bank (BDCB) and Usinwise (@usinwise) Instagram accounts.
The Brunei Central Bank encourages students, young professionals, and the general public to participate in these activities to gain valuable capital market experience and build confidence in navigating investment opportunities and risks.
