Malaysian singer Namewee (Huang Mingzhi) became embroiled in the homicide case of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Youxin. On the night of the 4th of this month, he turned himself in to the police. The police twice applied for an extension of his detention for further investigation, but today (13th), as the period ends, he will be released. Hsieh Youxin’s close friend, Hsieh Wei-an, who has been paying close attention to the case, expressed hope that Namewee would honestly explain the entire incident, and posted a 13-word message in white text on a black background on IG, conveying her dissatisfaction.
Malaysia’s Attorney General, Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki, stated that singer Namewee, who is involved in the Hsieh Youxin case, has been detained for nine days. So far, there is no evidence indicating that the suspect was involved in causing the victim’s death. The police are expected to release him temporarily. If new evidence emerges, the Attorney General’s Office reserves the right to take appropriate legal action against Namewee.
Hsieh Wei-an, a close friend of the deceased Hsieh Youxin, said she was surprised about Namewee’s upcoming release, but understands and respects the judgment of the Malaysian police and judiciary. She added that since Namewee was present at the scene and allegedly tried to move the body, she hopes he will truthfully explain the entire process.
In the early morning of the 13th, Hsieh Wei-an also posted an Instagram story with a 13-character white-text-on-black-background message reading: “No murder, but there is manslaughter, right?” showing her continued dissatisfaction.
