(Seria, 2nd) – Brunei Tai Po Clan Association First Vice-Chairperson and Secretary for English and Malay, Rao Meijing, expressed her gratitude in her speech to members, birthday celebrants, senior members, fellow villagers, and their families for enthusiastically attending the general meeting, the award ceremony for outstanding children of members, and the joint ceremony for birthday and senior honor recipients.
She stated that this event received a total of 135 registrations, far exceeding expectations.
Reviewing the association’s founding history, she pointed out that on November 13, 1976, the Brunei Society Registration Office issued a letter approving the association’s registration under the name “Brunei Tai Po Clan Association.” On November 29 of the same year, the community held a discussion at the Kuala Belait Chinese Chamber of Commerce, attended by 44 people, and began preparations for founding the association.
After three preparatory meetings, on April 3, 1977, the association held its first general meeting, conducted elections, and successfully elected the first council, consisting of 21 council members. The association’s constitution was subsequently approved in April 1981.
She stated that next year marks the association’s 50th anniversary, and hopes that all members will unite, participate enthusiastically, give strong support, and work together to successfully host the anniversary celebration.
