Miri Police Narcotics Division Arrests Suspected Drug Trafficker

(Miri, 24th) Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga confirmed that the Miri Police Headquarters Narcotics Unit arrested a 23-year-old non-local male suspect involved in drug trafficking during an operation at a pavilion in Bakenu yesterday.

During the raid at 3 PM on the 22nd of this month, the police found 50.20 grams of methamphetamine in the suspect's handbag, with a total drug value of 5,522 ringgit.

The man has been granted a 7-day remand by the court for investigation.

The police will investigate under Section 39b of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty upon conviction, or life imprisonment and no less than 12 strokes of the cane.

The Miri police also urge the public to report any information on drug activities immediately to the nearest police station in order to jointly curb and eliminate such activities.
