A driver suddenly felt a headache while behind the wheel, causing his vehicle to veer off the road and plunge down a steep staircase. The car was reduced to scrap metal, yet after being taken to the hospital, the driver astonishingly had no broken bones—just a few scrapes on his hand.
According to The U.S. Sun, CCTV footage shows the car hurtling off the road at full speed, flying down a steep set of stairs, smashing through a metal railing, and finally trapping the driver in the mangled wreck.
Reports state that firefighters had to rescue the 48-year-old driver, Railson Sousa, from the overturned vehicle. After being rushed to the hospital for CT and X-ray scans, it was revealed that he had not suffered a single broken bone.
Remarkably, just a few hours later, Railson was able to leave the hospital safe and sound.
Reflecting on the harrowing incident, Railson said emotionally: “God is wonderful. I am in pain, but I haven’t broken any bones. It’s just a little scrape on one hand—nothing else.”
The accident occurred in the Jardim Apurá area of São Paulo, Brazil, at around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Railson said he was driving home from work when he began to feel unwell due to forgetting to take his hypertension medication.
“I had a terrible headache. I only remember being at the bottom of the steps—I don’t know how I got down there.”
“When I saw the video, tears came to my eyes. God was there at that moment protecting me, giving me the chance to still be here today.”
After the crash, Railson’s car was deemed a total loss. Photos of the wreck show the driver’s side sustained the most damage.
