According to CCTV, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan hosted a banquet in Tianjin on the evening of August 31 to welcome international guests attending the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in China. Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan warmly welcomed visiting leaders and their spouses, shook hands, exchanged greetings, and took group photos with them.
In his banquet speech, Xi said that this summit carries an important mission of building consensus, energizing cooperation, and mapping out a blueprint for development. "Tomorrow (September 1), I will hold the Council of Heads of State meeting with colleagues from the member states, and convene a ‘Shanghai Cooperation Organization+’ meeting with more friendly countries and international organizations to discuss cooperation and development plans, and promote the improvement of global governance."
Xi also said he believes that with the joint efforts of all parties, the summit will definitely be a complete success.
