(Kuching, 18th) — The highly anticipated 2025 Sarawak Book Fair will be held at The Hills, Kuching, from September 27 to October 5, lasting 9 days. The event will offer a wide range of book deals, knowledge-sharing activities, and interactive programs suitable for the whole family, aiming to make reading a way of life for Sarawakians.
This book fair aims to promote an interest in reading, increase public access to high-quality and affordable books, support the publishing industry and creative economy, and cultivate a culture of knowledge, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education).
"Last year’s event received an enthusiastic response, with thousands of visitors each day."
"We hope this year’s book fair will be even more exciting and inspiring, continuing our joint efforts to build a knowledge-based society," said Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Negeri Sarawak) Chief Executive Officer Japri Bujang Masli.
He made these remarks during a press conference held on Wednesday at the library's first-floor seminar room.
He added that the book fair will feature the grand "Big Bad Wolf" book sale, forums, workshops, author meet-and-greets, and interactive activities suitable for all ages.
"To further encourage reading, the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA) will sponsor 2,000 book vouchers to be given away to lucky visitors," he said.
"This year, there are a total of 32 exhibitors from Malaysia and overseas, including Big Bad Wolf Books, Karangkraf, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Press (Penerbit UKM), Kembara Fixi, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (Sarawak branch), Popular Bookstore, MPH Bookstores, Universiti Malaysia Sabah Press (UMS Press), and the National Library of Malaysia, among others."
Japri urged the public to seize the opportunity to explore quality reading materials and cultivate reading habits, especially among children.
"We invite families, students and book lovers to join us and make the 2025 Sarawak Book Fair an unforgettable feast of knowledge," he said.
This event, supported by local and international publishers, distributors, and authors, once again highlights Sarawak’s commitment to promoting reading and lifelong learning.
