South Korean rapper Jvcki Wai recently accused her ex-boyfriend—Bangdal, a producer under the ‘KC Label’—of abusing her on social media. She posted photos showing her body covered in bruises, revealing she had been unable to leave her home for two consecutive weeks. Jvcki Wai stated that she decided to publish these photos in hopes of ending this terrifying relationship. The post went viral online, and Bangdal has not contacted Jvcki Wai since.
Jvcki Wai said that he had restricted her personal freedom, not allowing her to leave their residence. Feeling desperate, she decided to publicly share the photos and her story. The issue has triggered extensive discussion, and Jvcki Wai has gone on to release alleged emails and voice messages from her ex-boyfriend as evidence. In response to the accusations, Bangdal issued a statement, using vulgar language to deny abusing her. He instead accused Jvcki Wai of being the real abuser, and expressed anger at the public for "jumping to conclusions without knowing the truth."
In response to Bangdal’s denial, Jvcki Wai posted a long message on the 14th, giving detailed accounts of the violence and psychological control she endured during their relationship. She further explained that she only fought back as a result of prolonged abuse, but stressed that most of the time, she was the one suffering from physical and verbal violence. She also accused her ex-boyfriend of unlawful confinement, smashing things, snatching her phone to prevent her from calling the police, and sometimes, in a fit of rage, choking her, making her fear for her life.
