Ady An’s husband, Macau businessman Chan Wing-lun, was sentenced by the Macau court to 13 years in prison for charges including illegal gambling and money laundering, and was also fined up to 7.5 billion MOP (approximately 3.77 billion MYR). Chan Wing-lun still has over 200,000 USD (about 811,500 MYR) and over 50 million HKD (about 25.87 million MYR) in his foreign currency accounts at Taipei Fubon Bank in Taiwan, totaling around 26.68 million MYR. Recently, Ady An brought the passbook and seal, entrusted to her to make a withdrawal, but was refused. As a result, Chan Wing-lun filed a civil lawsuit across borders, requesting the bank to return the entrusted money. After trial, the Taiwan High Court reviewed the relevant evidence and determined that the bank was justified in freezing account transactions according to anti-money laundering regulations. On the 19th, the court ruled to uphold the first-instance judgment, rejecting Chan Wing-lun’s appeal. The case is still subject to further appeal.
